2D Content on a 3D TV
Sales of 3d tv sets are not doing as well as expected considering how popular 3D movies are in the movie theatres. The lack of advertising for these sets is certainly not to blame, consumers are well aware 3d sets are widely available. They are also well aware that the technology has vastly improved, making the viewing experience nothing like it was years ago. Commercials showing amazed families watching movies literally pop out of the screen while wearing cool-looking glasses are commonplace, so why aren’t more people buying 3d tv sets?
There are three main reasons why consumers are not buying these sets just yet. First, many consumers have recently bought an HD television set and are not ready to replace the set just yet. It’s hard to justify upgrading the television so soon in today’s economy.
Second, people believe that the sets will come down in price, just like all technology does. In a year or two they believe they will be able to buy a much bigger 3d tv for the same money as a smaller screen today. Finally, some people don’t realize that they can still watch everything that they watched before in 2D on a 3d tv, and in many cases, with a much better picture quality. Perhaps that should be stressed in the television commercials.
